Madrid Airport Day Rooms
A long layover at Madrid-Barajas doesn’t have to happen in a chair. MAD is one of the airports where a genuine day room exists, and it’s in the right place: inside Terminal 4, where most long connections land.
The day rooms inside Terminal 4
Aerotel Madrid, formerly HelloSky Air Rooms, rents its 21 rooms by the hour, not just overnight, with day-use stays from 10:00 to 18:00. The rooms are landside on Floor -1, between the metro and the car rental desks, so you clear arrivals, ride one lift and lie down. Both the Deluxe Double and Deluxe Twin come with a private bathroom and a strong shower.
Booked out or just need to freshen up? The Air Shower cubicle rents by the half hour between 8:00 and 19:00, kit included: towel, shower gel, slippers, hair dryer.
Connecting at T1, T2 or T3
The day rooms are in T4 only. From the older terminals, the free transit bus runs 24 hours (every 5 minutes by day) and takes about 10 minutes to T4. With six hours or more, that detour is worth it. With less, a lounge or a quiet gate row may serve you better.
Full hotels for longer breaks
For a layover stretching past eight hours, a normal room at a shuttle hotel buys more space and a real restaurant. Meliá Barajas is 2.5 km out with a free minibus to T1, T2 and T4 and a garden pool in summer. Hilton Madrid Airport loops its free shuttle through every terminal and has a heated pool under a retractable roof. Neither publishes an hourly rate, so book a standard night and ask about flexible check-in.
NH Madrid Barajas Airport is worth knowing for one caveat: its airport pickups only start at 12:00, so it suits afternoon layovers better than morning ones.
